    2010 Waiver Now Available
    July 30, 2010 2:47 AM

Like we’ve done in year’s past, we’re making our Waiver and Release of Liability form (Adobe PDF format) available ahead of time to speed up the on-site registration process.
Every attendee will need to submit a completed waiver, and any attendee under the age of 18 must have the form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Additionally, you will need to present a Photo ID at the time of registration.
As always forms will be available on-site but having one already completed will help everyone get through registration a little faster. More information on registration is coming soon.

    Introducing QuakeCon Community Competitions
    July 31, 2010 8:55 AM

    • Ever play in a BYOC tournament? Ever try to organize one yourself? Did you wish that there could be more support from the QuakeCon Organization, itself? Well, guess what. You’ve got it!
Announcing QuakeCon Community Competitions (QCC). These tournaments will still be run by gamers in the BYOC for their fellow attendees, but this year we are providing QuakeCon’s top notch support. We’re talking player registration, brackets, hosted servers, announcements… the works!
If you participated in a BYOC Tournament last year, then you may recall the helpful assistance of Jeff and Nacho from The Texan Gamer. You may also recognize the internet-famous CaliGirl, Gamespot icon and QuakeCon Tournament Staff veteran. These pros will be supporting the QCC’s by getting them up and running, providing training of the tournament software, and setting up servers. Just generally making sure things runs smoothly and that everyone has a good time.
If you have a game in mind that you think others would enjoy (and remember it can be ANY game), drop by the Quakecon BYOC Tournament Forum to see if a competition is already in works. If you don’t see what you are looking for, and you have superb organizational skills, then consider managing your own tournament. Take a moment to read this announcement for an idea of what to expect. Then follow these instructions to submit a proposal for your own QCC.
If you have any general questions about BYOC tournaments this year, please contact us at tournaments@quakecon.org with [QCC] in the subject. We look forward to seeing what BYOC action you come up with this year!

    Team Red or Blue?
    August 3, 2010 10:56 AM

Hope you and your buddy have a big garage, because our great friends at Ventrilo have stepped up their game this year. They‘re giving away not one but two 2011 Shelby Cobra GT500 coupes this year.

    • VENTRILO LEVELS UP THEIR QUAKECON 2010
      ‘ULTIMATE POWER UP’ SWEEPSTAKES

August 3, 2010 (Rockville, MD) – Ventrilo, the premier group voice communication program used in tournaments and multiplayer games, will up the ante at this year’s QuakeCon® 2010, in Dallas, Texas, with the sponsorship of its 3rd annual QuakeCon “Ultimate Power Up” Sweepstakes. This year, two lucky attendees will “Capture the Car” at QuakeCon 2010 in their very own brand-new, super-charged 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Coupe. QuakeCon, in its 15th year, is North America’s largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party. QuakeCon, which is free to the public, will be held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel from August 12- 15, 2010.

The 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Coupes, valued at approximately $51,930 each, both come with a six speed transmission and a supercharged 5.4 liter 32-valve V-8 engine pumping out 550 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The Mustangs, one in Kona Blue and the other in Race Red, will be on display in the main exhibition area throughout the event.

“Once again, thanks to Brian Knapp and the great folks over at Ventrilo, attendees will have a shot at driving home from QuakeCon in one of these two monster machines,” said Todd Hollenshead, president of id Software. ”Not one, but two lucky fans this year will leave on Sunday in one of the coolest cars ever made after the best double grand prize award in the history of QuakeCon.”

“Thanks to id Software we have been given another great opportunity to show our appreciation to the community that helped make Ventrilo what it is today,“ said Brian Knapp, President of Ventrilo. ”With the Capture the Car giveaway we have increased the odds of winning a Shelby GT500 from 1 in 100 to 1 in 50.”

The “Ultimate Power Up” winners will be randomly selected at 9:30pm CST on Saturday, August 14, as part of the tournament finals event on the QuakeCon Main Stage. A total of 100 tickets for both of the Shelby Mustang GT500 drawings will be awarded to attendees throughout each day of the event for everything from performance in the QuakeCon Pro, Open and Quick Draw Tournaments, to participation in other QuakeCon contests, events and random drawings.

      QuakeCon Power Up Rules:
QuakeCon 2010 registered attendees who are 18 years of age and older AND are legal residents of the United States, its territories and possessions and the District of Columbia are eligible to participate. No purchase necessary. A total of 100 raffle tickets will be distributed throughout the QuakeCon event. Additional information about contest rules, eligibility, restrictions and requirements will be available at www.quakecon.org. </SPAN>
