Well, if you have it on Steam, would tell you to go to the game library, click on borderlands, rightclick it to show the dropdown menu. Properties, then local files, then click verify integrity. That would find corrupted files and then download the proper ones to you.

Nope and a fresh install will not work.

Several people seem to have had this or similar problems with absolutely no solution that works.

Seems to just be affecting my borderlands game so at least its just that. Course itll bug the shit out of me if i cant get it working and it keeps saying it cant find or there is no filename etc.

Does make you wonder about digital downloading though. thankfully, so far, its just been this game.

I did end up finding 1 post about the exact problem, and im not reinstalling windows for 1 game i play here and there lol

Did you try this guy's fix?

    1. close steam
    2. rename borderlands folder
    3. start steam and the download started by itself and finished
    4. shut down steam again, deleted the new folder after copying over to the old one, renamed old one
    5. started steam, and I could play the game.

Was gonna try that one, but he was having trouble downloading the game from the get go, not the same problem. Anythings worth a shot though lol

It didnt start automatically, it actually still though borderlands was installed. So i had to "delete" it and now its downloading. we will see.

    and nope.

Well, finally got it working. Scoured through a big ass borderlands help thread on the same forums and someone said something about deleting the binaries folder. So i did, then verified the integrity of the game, and voila, the game works.....funny thing is the binaries folder is still gone lol
